A double prestigious appointment has come for WSENSE’s founder and Research and Development Director Chiara Petrioli.
Prof. Petrioli has been designated Deputy Rector of the Third Mission Area “Scouting, Fundraising and Business Incubation” at Sapienza University of Rome, where she’s already been teaching Computer Science since 2014 and directs the Sensor Networks and Embedded Systems Laboratory (Senses Lab).
She has also been elected Fellow of the IEEE Advancing Technology for Humanity with the following motivation: ‘for contributions to wireless and undersea networks’. The IEEE is “the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity”, as they define themselves.
“These acknowledgements, which come at the beginning of 2021, along with awards to Wsense such as inclusion in the list of 100 Italian excellences in 2020, have been granted after a very difficult year for all sectors. They are are proof that the efforts made in the research and application of new technologies of the internet of underwater things are going in the right direction,” says Chiara Petrioli. “The work that it has been possible to carry out through scientific research combined with a structured application in the field by highly qualified teams has shown how this combination represents a fundamental contribution to the opening of innovative and high-impact scenarios, recognized as such at a national and international level.”
